about

Autumn Leaves is a classic jazz standard. Performed by many famous musicians, Grace put her own spin on the piece by starting off with an original poem. The Last Leaf tells a sad Fall tale from the perspective of a lonely leaf. In a cinematic way, at the end of the poem the camera pulls back to show that the leaf was just a small piece of a larger scene.

lyrics

LYRICS:

The Last Leaf:

As leaves around her fell like snow
she knew the time had come to let go
Her summer colors, once strong and bold
had left nothing more to admire and behold

Be brave she thought, as she broke free
This is just as you knew it would be
and with quiet courage she faced the ground
and slipped away without a sound

A truer beauty we'll never find
than the summer greens that Autumn leaves
behind

Autumn Leaves:

The falling leaves
Drift by my window
The falling leaves
Of red and gold

I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall
